A youth-led organization working to create lasting social change through education, empowerment, and community development in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Zeenat Welfare Foundation was born from a deep commitment to the communities of District Ghizer, Gilgit-Baltistan — one of Pakistan's most remote and underserved regions. Nestled amid the Karakoram and Hindu Kush ranges, the valleys of Ishkoman and Immit are home to resilient people who have long faced barriers to education, opportunity, and social empowerment.
The foundation was established with a clear purpose: to translate the energy and idealism of local youth into meaningful, community-driven programs. We do not import solutions from the outside — we build from within, by people who know these valleys, speak these languages, and understand these lives.
Since our first initiative in 2022 — a historic self-defense camp for girls in Tehsil Ishkoman — we have grown to organize scholarship programs, sports tournaments, and community events that have collectively reached thousands of people across the region.
To empower individuals and strengthen communities in remote areas of Gilgit-Baltistan through youth-led initiatives in education, women's empowerment, and community engagement — ensuring that geography is never a barrier to opportunity.
A Gilgit-Baltistan where every young person — regardless of gender, background, or location — has access to the skills, education, and platforms they need to lead a dignified, fulfilling life and contribute to their community.
Expanding access to quality education and scholarship opportunities for students from financially challenged backgrounds.
Building confidence, skills, and independence among women and girls through practical training and community-based programs.
Fostering unity, sportsmanship, and collective spirit through events and initiatives that bring villages together.
Founder & Chairman
"Empowerment is giving our people the tools to carve their own destiny."
Wahab Shah is the driving force behind Zeenat Welfare Foundation. With deep roots in the communities of District Ghizer, he founded the organization with the belief that meaningful change must come from within — from young people who understand the realities of life in Pakistan's northern mountains.
Since establishing the foundation, Wahab has led every major initiative, from coordinating the first-ever self-defense training camp for girls in Tehsil Ishkoman to organizing community scholarship programs and regional sports events. His work has been recognized and praised by local leaders and community elders across Ghizer.
